Stickney Creek

Stickney Creek is located in Cascade County, Montana. Our cabin was originally homesteaded in 1917. The perfect place to go off the grid. Our workshops include survival, leadership, and mindfulness training, and we host creative residencies each year. Learn how to handle yourself in the wilderness, prepare for shelter-in-place emergencies, strategies to become more self-sufficient, and enjoy some fresh air. From permaculture to canning to first aid and herbology, we endeavor to bring you practical knowledge and unique tactics that will help you thrive in a variety of situations. Each autumn, our cabin is utilized as a hunting lodge for guests from around the country through Parsons Outfitting. Don’t expect luxury, but do expect to be comfortable and cozy in our communal accommodations. This is a very unique experience and we know you’ll have a great time! About our Founders: Stickney Creek is one arm of Turtle Butte, LLC., owned and operated by the Parsons family. Our ranch and cabin properties have been in operation for three generations and include hunting, cattle ranching, and organic farming. Kate Parsons is an artist and educator living in Los Angeles. She obtained her M.F.A. from UCLA, her M.A. from CSU-N and her B.F.A. from Montana State University. She has trained with Thomas Coyne Survival Schools, the Permaculture Institute, and is currently studying for her HAM radio license. Her upbringing in rural Montana involved living off the grid for six weeks each year at the Parsons' hunting lodge. Since 2018, Kate has been working to bring part of that experience to others. She is interested in how creativity—both in the arts and in the field—can help grow relationships and build a connected and collaborative environment. Randy Parsons has been an organic rancher and farmer for 40 years and holds two advanced degrees in Microbiology and Gerontology from Montana State University. He has also operated as a hunting guide for Parsons Outfitting.
