It first started as a directory to list Chinese-Speaking Therapists in Canada and USA. Katherine would never think this could turn into a not-for-profit organization back in Oct 2019. In February 2020, Katherine opened her own private practice in response to the urgent mental health need during Covid-19 Pandemic. After working for several months, she found a prevalent macro-level problem. Later, in August 2020, this directory had pivoted to a not-for-profit organization with a Mental Health Platform that's dedicated to list Therapists of Color, Feminist Therapists and LGBTQ+Friendly Therapists. For A Safer Space is Officially a Registered Not-for-Profit Organization and a Social Work Value-Centered Social Enterprise in Canada. It is a Tech-First Mental Health Non-Profit empowering clients and therapists using technology. It offers affordable, accessible health care to clients and provides free listing platform for therapists of color, feminist therapists and LGBTQ+ friendly therapists.
