Our mission: Spreading ideas. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give regional communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. TEDxTulsa is an independently organized event licensed from TED and organized by a network of fellow thinkers and other long time collaborators. It is not for profit, it is for sharing Ideas Worth Spreading. Everything is sponsored or paid for through ticket sales so that this is a community sustained series of events. We’re a few people who love Tulsa and are passionate about TEDx. TEDxTulsa is produced by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about creating TED experiences in Tulsa. The TEDxTulsa mission, like the TED mission, is to propagate Ideas Worth Spreading; to inform and inspire. Our more specific vision for TEDxTulsa is to make it Tulsa’s leading platform and pipeline for the propagation of great ideas, storytelling, creativity and actionable innovation to the rest of the world; to create and foster a sense of community amongst the people and organizations who have gathered (and continue to gather) around this event; to provide a cultural focus and impetus for conversation and debate.
