The Royal Society of Victoria is the State’s oldest scientific organisation and has been a part of Australia’s intellectual life since 1854. A membership based, non-government organisation, the RSV advocates for the importance of science, technology and innovation to building the skills for Victoria's future industries. We engage in outreach to schools and communities seeking a more meaningful engagement with science in their immediate context. We encourage, profile and celebrate the achievements of Victorian scientists through public lectures, awards and prizes supported by the donations and bequests to the RSV Science Foundation. Our peer-reviewed journal, The Proceedings of the Royal Society of Victoria, features papers written by some of Victoria's most significant scientists and has been published continuously since 1889, with its antecedents dating from the Society's foundation in 1854.
