Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. Founded at Lehigh University by Edwards H. Williams Jr. in 1885, Tau Beta Pi is the nation’s second oldest honor society to recognize students of exemplary character and distinguished scholarship. Across the U.S., there are 248 collegiate chapters, 45 active alumni chapters in 16 districts, and approximately 600,000 initiated members.
