Dr. Jakob energy research GmbH & Co. KG (JER) is a German independent research company. The field of activity covers the consultancy for research, product development, marketing, dissemination as well as education and training. The company was established in 2009 and based in Weinstadt in the south of Germany. Expertise in the fields of district heating/cooling, solar/thermal cooling, co-generation, tri- generation as well as energy-efficient buildings enables to strengthen the development of new methodologies and tools for retrofit design towards energy efficient and sustainable buildings and districts. The team of dr. jakob energy research are specialists and pioneers with a special focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency. It has expertise in innovative energy concepts, solar cooling, thermal cooling, solar process heat, industrial waste heat recovery, energy and resource-efficient production in the industry, solar buildings, energy facades and Combined heat and power (CHP) respectively Combined heating, cooling and power (CHCP). This knowledge is used for different types of international projects. JER collaborates in numerous EU funded FP7 and H2020 projects (InSun, FRESH NRG, REEMAIN, NewTREND and HyCool), the IEA SHC Programme, e.g. IEA Task 45 on Large Solar heating/Cooling Systems, Seasonal Storage, Heat Pumps and Task 53 New Generation Solar Cooling & Heating Systems (PV or solar thermally driven systems). The director Dr. Uli Jakob has over eighteen years of professional experience as an engineer and specialist for RES systems and energy-efficient buildings with a broad scope from early stage concepts and component development to system-layout, application, monitoring and dissemination. Since September 2012 Dr. Uli Jakob is the General Manager of the Green Chiller Association for Sorption Cooling e.V. based in Berlin, Germany.
