Welcome to IHambo Township Tours! IHambo Township Tours is the main provider of authentic township experiences in the Imizamo Yethu Township. In contrast to other tour operators, IHambo Township Tours offers a journey to its visitors which immerse them in the township’s culture. Our township tour takes longer than regular township tours which allows real exchanges between the visitors and people of the Imizamo Yethu community. The tours are given by Nandipha Breakfast, a young community member of the Imizamo Yethu community. The name IHambo originates from Xhosa, one of the main languages spoken within Imizamo Yethu, and translates as ‘journey’. This follows the mission of IHambo Township tours which is to: Engage visitors with the vibrant community of Imizamo Yethu, providing a cultural journey by immersion into the township’s culture. The tours take visitors to peoples’ homes, schools, taste local food and more. The experience is not a ‘zoo tour’ but a unique cultural exchange shared with the people that live in the township.
