University of Pécs is the intellectual heir of the first university in Hungary that was founded in 1367. The mission of our University is to contribute to the scientific, social, and economic development of the region, of Hungary, and of the EU through research and education. With promoting personal growth in our students (both international and Hungarian) we have an outreach beyond the boundaries of the European continent. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the home of humanities, social sciences, and teacher education. Our Faculty can contribute to the mission of the University in a unique way. We work hard to establish a growth-promoting environment where all the listed attributes can find their home: courage for social responsibility, inclusion and openness, innovation, self-expression and dialogue, personal growth and self-actualization. Following the above guidelines, our Faculty – ranked among the five most prestigious faculties in more than 150 Hungarian faculties – has numerous and diverse undergraduate, graduate, and applied and scientific postgraduate programs. This colourful scientific and intellectual community is in constant development in rising to the ever-changing challenges of society. This would motivate teachers and students not only to become professionals of specific fields in humanities and social sciences but also to strive for universal knowledge.
