The Penrith Panthers are one of 16 rugby league teams within the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. Founded in 1967, the Panthers have won the premiership three times (2003, 1991 and 2021). The Panthers senior and junior squads, along with rugby league administration employees are based in the Panthers Rugby League Academy. The Academy is a $22 million dollar high performance training and development facility. The Academy was opened in 2017 by the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP, Prime Minister. The Academy consists of two full-size all-weather training fields, two gymnasiums, hot and cold plunge pools, a 61-seat team auditorium, medical rooms, a number of recreational areas for players and staff, as well as administration offices.
