www.bafa.de

The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) is a federal agency subordinated to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). BAFA is a client-oriented service provider for citizens and companies, from start-ups over SME’s to international corporations. On behalf of the federal government, BAFA is carrying out central programs to prevent climate change, e.g. by enhancing energy efficiency in the buildings sector or the promotion of electric mobility. With regard to the Federal Government's export control policy, BAFA as a central licensing authority is responsible for the administrative implementation. Together with the monitoring and investigating authorities, it is involved in a complex export control system. In connection to the Supply Chain Act, BAFA has far-reaching supervisory powers to monitor and enforce the adoption by companies. On the other hand, it supports companies in the implementation by providing concrete information. The Auditor Oversight Body (AOB) as a part of BAFA is responsible for the supervisory control of the Chamber of Public Accountants. Whether in energy and climate protection, international trade, promotion of business and industry or the strengthening of human rights in global supply chains - BAFA's areas of responsibility are diverse and constantly evolving.
