Rotary District 1920
www.rotary.atRotary is an international organization of Service Clubs for leading representatives of different professional groups to cultivate friendship and service. Founded in 1905 by Paul Harris in Chicago as the world's first Service Club, Rotary's amazing success influenced the founding of other service clubs such as Kiwanis (1915), Lions (1917), Round Table (1927), and others. Today Rotary has approximately 1.2 million members in over 3,600 clubs in more than 200 countries. According to the Rotary motto "Service Above Self", Rotarians all around the world share ideas and take action in the so-called "5 Avenues of Service" (Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, Youth Service, and International Service) and in the "7 Areas of Focus": * Promoting peace * Fighting Disease * Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene * Saving mothers and children * Supporting education * Growing local economies * Protecting the environment Among our most notable international projects is our fight against Polio, the largest health initiative in history, and Rotary Youth Exchange, the largest private youth exchange program in the world. In Austria, the Rotarians are organized in District 1920 and District 1910, which are headed by a governor. Our Rotary District 1920 comprises the beautiful and famous Austrian federal states of Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg with a total of 69 Rotary Clubs, over 3,600 members, 4 Interact Clubs and 7 Rotaract Clubs. Welcome among friends!
