nachhaltigkeit.bvng.orgThe German Federal Association for Sustainability was founded on 25 April 2013 and is a German non-governmental organisation (NGO) at national level with the legal form of a registered association. The association is the only NGO in Europe with a holistic approach to sustainability and sustainable development. The federal office is located in Berlin and manages and coordinates the national, European and worldwide activities. As a professional association for sustainability, the German Federal Association for Sustainability represents the common idealistic interests of its members in all sustainability-related issues, promotes cooperation between its members and supports them in the fulfilment of their tasks. It advocates for the interests of its members towards the legislative bodies of the federal and state governments, the supervisory and regulatory authorities at national and international level, as well as the media and the public. It is accredited with the German Bundestag and the Transparency Register of the European Commission. Its main task is to provide civil society support for development processes in all forms of organisations with regard to sustainability strategies. This also includes strategies with regard to climate protection/climate change and the development of sustainable business models. As a cross-cutting issue, the work of the German Sustainability Association focuses on education & research for sustainable development as well as on practicable implementation strategies in questions of social cohesion, the re-vitalisation of rural areas and the application-oriented implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in the economy, society, politics and administration. The association’s projects are oriented towards this and are carried out together with public funding agencies, the business community and civil society initiatives.
