The profitability of manufacturing synthetic graphite anode material is threatened through needle coke feedstock scarcity. At the same time, downstream price pressures are increasing from EV manufacturers who also require a reduced CO2 manufacturing footprint. Fast growing battery demand in Europe and the United States are far from the existing anode manufacturing centers in Asia, increasing the cost of already long supply chains. In the fast developing battery raw materials space, CarbonScape's patented "biomass to battery" technology represents a unique opportunity for existing (or prospective) manufacturers of synthetic graphite battery anode materials to: 1. manufacture equivalent premium battery grade anode material for approximately half the production cost of traditional processes 2. reduce needle coke supply chain risk by utilizing abundant and sustainable feedstocks - produce close to demand centers and shortening supply routes 3. significantly reduce the carbon footprint of graphite anode material (negative carbon footprint).
