Vigilant Scanning Ltd.
www.vigilantscanning.comVigilant Scanning Ltd was established to commercialise a desperately needed solution for a problem plaguing the waste & recycling industry. In late 2017, the UK’s Waste Management & Recycling sector put out a cry for help via the UK Energy Innovation Centre. Eco-damaging fires caused by the combustion of Lithium-Ion batteries were, and still are, occurring daily at waste & recycling sites all around the world. The main consequences are substantial capital and commercial loss, and significant environmental damage. A solution has been developed by Vigilant Scanning, and key stake holders have been engaged. The company are now fund-raising to deliver a production unit for the industry to evaluate. Uniquely, this product not only addresses the issue of identifying Lithium-Ion batteries before entering a waste site but also incorporates additional operational features that provide throughput efficiencies for site management. Meanwhile the problem will escalate; by 2024, annual production of Lithium-Ion batteries worldwide is projected to exceed 35 billion batteries. A seven-fold increase from 2018!
