Bring on the Sunshine is a grassroots community organisation based in Waterloo Region. Created from a desire to celebrate Africa, culture, community and family we run 4 annual programs. Our theme in 2021 is Black History is African History is World History. The first is a one day, free festival in February, during Black History Month. A team of developing leaders of (youth between the ages of 18 - 28yrs) learn to run the festival with community mentorship as part of the Youth Leadership Program. Africa Camp, launched as an opportunity for young people of the African diaspora to learn about their roots is a one week summer camp. It has also grown into a youth leadership development program including Black and marginalized youth from many backgrounds. We also provide educational programming within local schools across the region and pop up events in the townships. Black founded, Black led on both an organizational and governance level, our commitment is to support success for the Black community, with a special focus on youth. We have been operating for over 11 years, and are a registered not for profit.
