The Latin American Leadership Society, or LLS for short, is a UC Berkeley student run organization, made up of people from very diverse backgrounds; and what unites us, is our profound love, and dedication, to Latin America. Regardless of whether your interests lie in the region’s rich culture and traditions, the growing influence of Latin American communities in the United States, or the current political and economic scenes in Latin American countries, we have one goal: To spread our love for nuestra gente, or our people, to you! At LLS, our mission is to provide UC Berkeley students with the opportunity to foster lifelong personal bonds, and create phenomenal professional networks within our community, through the means of social events, career development programs, and the numerous charitable endeavors that we host, or pursue, to name a few. Most of our members here at LLS are international students who hail from Latin America. Additionally, we have a plethora of members who are US Nationals of Latin American descent, as well as non-Latin students who simply possess an unwavering care for the region, and a profound calling to spread our message, the LLS message. What separates our organization from others, is that our members yearn to eventually return to their respective countries, and help contribute to the development of the region, and provide a beacon of hope that can be used as motivation, by their people. Our vision for LLS is to achieve mainstream recognition in Latin America through our exemplary leadership efforts, and the tremendous contributions of our alumni, and current members, alike. We think of LLS as the first chapter of a long list of initiatives nationwide, to bring attention and relevance to our beloved, Latin America.
