There appears to be space to discuss our sex lives, our spiritual lives, our Netflix lives...but what about our thought lives, especially regarding Afro textured hair? Afro Hair Therapy® helps women in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s identify their negative thoughts towards their Afro hair [GOAL], so that they can develop positive thoughts instead; allowing them to wake up each day wanting to show the world how much they love their natural Afro hair [RESULT]. Afro Hair Therapy® explores the themes of self-awareness, self-acceptance, forgiveness and self-confidence. This specialised programme of support focuses on helping women to identify, explore and tackle unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that they may have internalised about themselves and their Afro textured hair. They will also learn techniques to help them manage their thoughts which influence their behaviour. Coaching programmes have a duration of 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. With reference to the current COVID-19 global restrictions, only courses are available to participate in via ZOOM; Face to Face and Grouping coaching will resume in due course. Denese Chikwendu, CertCoach, MA, BA (Hons), is the Creator and Founder of Afro Hair Therapy®. She is a certified coach specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching for Stress Management, Health & Wellbeing and who has completed training approved by the British Psychological Society. She is an affiliate member of the International Society of Coaching Psychology and a member of the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance. She is also the Director of the practice - My Community Coach and Co-Director of World Afro Day. Her background industry experience: a PRINCE2 Project Manager with over 17 years of experience in the not-for-profit, private and public sectors, specialising in project and event management. Afro Hair Therapy® for Kids (aged 5 to 17) and Group coaching for non-Afro hair types are also available.
