We began as an engineering student team from the University of Michigan under the umbrella organization M-HEAL, a student organization focused on improving access to healthcare in undeveloped countries. We first visited Nicaragua in August 2010 for a needs assessment trip and visited several clinics focused on maternal health and education. Over the years, our team has evolved into a multidisciplinary team and has built multiple iterations of the examination table based on feedback from our global partners. advisors and mentors. We have expanded our reach beyond Nicaragua and are focusing on Latin America at large, with potential to scale to many global rural regions through partnerships.
