Youth STEMM Award C.I.C.
www.ysawards.co.ukYouth STEMM Award (YSA) is a skills award for students in years 9-13, designed to support and inspire the next generation into STEMM. Students take part in STEMM-related activities at school, online or at home and log them to the YSA e-portfolio, creating a record of achievement great to help with applications for HE and employment. Almost any activity counts so long as it involves some form of STEMM, is extra-curricular, and fits into one of the four key strands; inspiring the next generation, engaging the public, developing skills and knowledge and shaping your future. Each journey is unique, students can start by following any area that may interest them. Taking part broadens young people's horizons as they are encouraged to take part in more activities than they normally would and self-reflect on their skill development and where STEMM could lead them. As well as a receiving a medal and certificate, students create a bespoke portfolio of their activities which means nothing gets forgotten about when it comes to personal statement writing. The YSA mission is to raise aspirations and widen participation from under-represented groups into HE and STEMM careers to support a more diverse future STEMM workforce.
