Welcome to Subsea Technology Laboratory (LTS - Laboratório de Tecnologia Submarina)! We are part of the Ocean Engineering Program - PEnO which is one of the thirteen programs of the Coordination of Graduate Engineering Projects - COPPE located at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ. COPPE / UFRJ is one of the research institutions accredited by the Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) according to Investment Clauses in Research, Development and Technological Innovation (ANP Resolution No. 50/2015, Technical Regulation ANP No. 3/2015) and the Brazilian Industrial Research and Innovation Company (EMBRAPII). In almost 30 years of activities, the LTS has already completed twenty-two undergraduate projects, sixty-five master's dissertations and fifteen doctoral theses. He has published more than one hundred articles and works in national and international congresses and magazines and has developed around two hundred and seventy technical consulting reports. It has also been conducting R&D projects eligible to ANP levy. Research lines: • Offshore pipelines alternative conceptions such as Sandwich and composite pipes. • Submarines, ships and floating platforms • Drilling wells • Completion and instrumentation of onshore and offshore wells • Intelligent systems based on materials with shape memory • Wave energy Infrastructure • Physical infrastructure The laboratory, considered the most modern in Latin America, is installed in an area of approximately one thousand seven hundred square meters in the Complex of Teaching and Research Engineering, Block I-2000 Technology Center, Ilha do Fundão. The laboratory, considered the most modern in Latin America, is installed in an area of approximately one thousand seven hundred square meters in the Complex of Teaching and Research Engineering, Block I-2000 Technology Center, Ilha do Fundão. • Flow Center Flow Center composed of 5 looping systems. - The high-pressure, high-pressure Looping is a 4-inch diameter closed loop that operates flow rates up to 860 l / min with combined pressures of up to 3000 psi providing a minimum stability of 1% and is designed for the development of well and related to production under high flow. - Acoustic Polyethylene Looping is a 4-inch closed circuit designed to develop acoustic tools for detecting gas leakage in natural gas distribution pipelines. • Equipment o Vertical hyperbaric chamber (ID 1200mm, WD 1000m) o Horizontal hyperbaric chamber (ID 380 mm, WD 5000m) o Thermo-hyperbaric chamber (ID 200mm, WD 6700m, T 200oC) o High Pressure Chamber I (ID 760 mm e WD 10.000 m) o Apparatus for folding and rectifying rigid ducts o Instron Tension, Compression and Fatigue Testing Machine o Electrodynamic shaker. • Computational Infrastructure The lab has approximately 100 computers between servers, notebooks, workstations and desktops, as well as printers, scanners, etc. The most used finite element modelling software Abaqus and Ansys.
