ZAPA is all about exposing students to the world of marine engineering through modules and a final challenge. The UK need's more engineers and it is ZAPA's intention to grow the number of students who take up subjects at GCSE and A-level relevant to engineering. It's part of a country wide push for STEM within the curriculum and as I recently graduated in Naval Architecture feel it's something close to home. Road to Vendée is a boyhood dream of sailing around the world that has never gone away and only grown to become a desire to race in the Vendée Globe and possibly become the second Brit ever to win a round the world race. It is the world toughest race pitting sailor against mother nature in 3 months of nonstop ocean racing aboard 60ft carbon racing yachts.
