Alexandria Tutoring Consortium
www.alexandriatutors.orgAlexandria Tutoring Consortium (ATC) is a nonprofit that tutors kindergartners and first graders in 12 of the City of Alexandria’s 14 public elementary schools. Currently supported by over 200 volunteer tutors and over 300 donors, ATC uses twice-weekly, in-person tutoring to help its students read on or above grade level. Our program is based on a curriculum developed by the University of Virginia Curry School of Education, called Book Buddies, to work with children who need individualized attention to become successful readers. Since 1996, ATC has been a valuable resource for Alexandria City public schools, serving over 3,000 students with a very high success rate.
