www.dbnautocluster.org.zaEstablished in 2002, the primary purpose of the DAC is to drive competitiveness and growth and to facilitate the transformation of the KZN automotive manufacturing industry. The DAC delivers support to the automotive sector through three core programmes, namely Localisation & Growth, Manufacturing Excellence and Skills Development. The overarching objective of the cluster is to facilitate localisation and transformation in line with SAAM targets, thereby enabling employment growth and private sector investment, and to ultimately grow the manufacturing value add of the sector by 100% in real terms between 2012 and 2020. This longstanding initiative serves as a positive example of the power of collaboration between industry and the public sector. Funding for the DAC is overseen by the Economic Development Unit (EDU) of the eThekwini Municipality and member firms.
