We are a research team at LRGP (Reactions & Chemical Engineering Lab) located in Nancy (France). Our activities are principally linked to thermochemical conversion of biomass & wastes. A multi-scale approach is used : Molecular mechanisms ==> Thermochemical reactors (pyrolysis, gasification, liquefaction) ==> Industrial plants At the molecular scale, we focus on the pyrolysis & liquefaction mechanisms for biomass and its constituents (cellulose, lignin,...), but also catalytic deoxygenation, catalytic pyrolysis & char oxidation. At the reactor scale, different types of reactors are studied: fluidized beds for pyrolysis or gasification (from 1g to 10 kg/h), liquefaction autoclaves, screw reactors... At the process scale, Aspen Plus simulations are developed with some specific codes for some units (reactor, but also separator).
