Vigyan Ashram is training rural youth on various technologies and help them to start their enterprises. It has a program DBRT (Diploma in Basic Rural Technology) to train rural youth. Through its program, ‘Introduction to Basic Technology (IBT)’, Vigyan ashram is promoting small makers lab with traditional tools in secondary schools. The program is getting implemented in 200+ schools. IBT is also become a part of NSQF and recognised as ‘Multi skill foundation Course (MSFC)’. Vigyan Ashram is also the first Fab Lab (Fab Lab ‘o’) established with the support of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA in 2002. Fab lab is a facility for digital fabrication. VA has established Do-It-Yourself Lab in Pune city in 2012 with the support of Govt of Maharashtra. DIY Lab is a facility for school children to carry out educational projects. ATL tinkering lab is similar to DIY Lab activities. Vigyan Ashram is also engaged in developing educational content using a DIY Lab facility. It has contributed lessons on Fab Ed- Fab Lab in the education project of Fab foundation ( https://www.scopesdf.org/ ). Based on this expertise, VA is regularly conducting training of teachers of Atal tinkering Lab teachers in Maharashtra. Since Feb 2021, Vigyan Ashram has provided online support to ATLs in Chhattisgarh and from Oct 2021, VA is providing online- offline to ATLs in Andhra Pradesh in partnership with UNICEF. Vigyan Ashram is a Design Innovation Center of Savitribai Phule Pune University. We work on development of various technologies with the help of engineering and science college students.
