Pittsburgh Disability Employment Project for Freedom is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started in 1998.The organization offers a 10 week training program that provides focused skills training plus job placement for qualified persons with disabilities, facilitating the transition to full time competitive employment and economic self-sufficiency. It seeks to match the technology/customer service human resource needs in the region’s dominant industries with the training that it provides. The curriculum offered is technology/customer service and includes a 6 week medical terminology online course for those students who will find customer service employment at medical industries in the region. An important part of the curriculum is Professional Skills and Business Communication. We also train students in resume writing and interviewing for a job. We partner with organizations that provide speakers for our class and do mock interviews. The program places emphasis on professional development skills that go beyond the technical aspects of the job, empowering the students to succeed in the workplace culture and to meet high standards for professionalism. We have been successful in finding employment for many of our students, including many veterans with disabilities. Contact us at: 412-246-4437
