Sjón is an anthropological playground whose main mission is to provide access to anthropological knowledge and sensory cultural encounters for as wide an audience as possible. This playground takes several shapes: ☉ an annual festival screening anthropological audio-visual works (made by filmmakers with an anthropological, ethnological, sociological, folklore etc background, or works that offer innovative anthropological perspectives) on a certain theme; ☉ an interactive, participatory space for experimentation with form and concepts; ☉ stand-alone events and workshops throughout the year that take anthropology out of academia and make it more accessible. Sjón is created & run by an international collective of visual anthropologists with various backgrounds, interested in multi-sensorial experimentation.
