The ClimateCost index is an ISO-based GHG emissions index that assesses durable and non-durable goods and/or services’ climate footprint as a numerical figure representing the embodied CO2e emissions related to that product. The index is designed to specifically assess a modified cradle-to-grave scenario removing the consumer usage phase. It accounts for extraction, production, transport, and end of life. We operate on a philosophy of ‘assume the worst, prove otherwise’. Assumptions are made that purposely overestimate, or “round up” numbers from all data points (ex. End of life via incineration) due to the variability of supply chains. We’ve done this to assure that no undercounting.
