Joseph H. Neal Health Collaborative
www.jhnealhealth.orgReverend Joseph H. Neal served as the Representative for South Carolina’s 70th District from 1993 until his death in February 2017. His passion for improving the lives of his fellow South Carolinians was born out through his community efforts and his legislative service. In the House of Representatives, he served as First Vice Chairman of the Medical, Military and Municipal Affairs Committee, which is responsible for legislation affecting social services, corrections, and mental health. Representative Neal’s commitment to helping people living with HIV and AIDS was a hallmark of his progressive political work. Representative Neal’s work is too vital to end with his passing, which is why his family established a new 501(c)3 organization in the name of Joseph H. Neal Health Collaborative (JHNHC). This organization in partnership with CAN Community Health, Incorporated (CAN) will serve citizens throughout the State of South Carolina. As a start-up organization, the services will initially be limited to the area of Columbia, SC. The services of the Joseph H. Neal Health Collaborative include case management, education, and linkage to important support services for people living with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted diseases. The JHNHC and CAN’s joint mission is to provide a continuum of medical, social and educational services essential to the health and well-being of those infected with HIV, Hepatitis C, sexually transmitted diseases and other diseases and to enhance public awareness and prevent the spread of the virus. The partnership will offer comprehensive medical, dental, psychological and educational services to all patients, regardless of their financial situation, insurance status, or ability to pay.
