Our organization facilitates collaboration and communication amongst parents, grandparents, educators, early childhood professionals, local organizations and business. We believe that our community is strengthened when diverse stakeholders work together toward shared goals to benefit young children. For the past 29 years, our mission has been to promote the healthy growth and development of children from birth to age eight (or third grade) by providing resources, programs, and support for parents, families, and professionals. To accomplish our mission, each year The Alliance for Early Childhood offers a variety of programs and services, including: Resources • Information on best practices in Early Childhood through a comprehensive website, social media • Early Childhood Newsletter: All families in Member schools/organizations receive two issues a year. This publication includes early childhood events and articles written by local and national experts on topics such as practical parenting ideas, book reviews, and health information Programs • Let’s Play! Programs that provide children opportunities for unstructured, creative play • Parenting Seminars and Speakers led by nationally respected researchers, authors, and early childhood leaders • Professional development workshops and networking events for local early childhood educators • Transition to Kindergarten events to support a positive transition for students from preschool into kindergarten Support • Advocacy on behalf of young children both locally and nationally • Preschool Surveys to share data biennially among area schools • Special Needs Roundtable programming and support to parents and teachers of children with special needs • Teacher Tributes to recognize and promote professional excellence in education
