With the development of OOGP, Pan Ocean became the first company to achieve zero gas flare in Nigeria with the installation of its 130 mmscfd Ovade-Ogharefe Gas Plant in 2010 and gained full compliance with the Carbon Credit Scheme of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Changes (UNFCCC) on the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) with a CDM award of USD$5 million per annum. This makes the OOGP the biggest CDM project in West Africa. The Amukpe Escravos Pipeline (AEP) is another brainchild of Pan Ocean. It is an export pipeline with horizontal Directional Drilling technology (HDD) over 67km or about 150 feet deep in the ground, and an alternative to Trans Forcados pipeline. The AEP is guaranteed to provide an all year round transportation of 160,000 barrels per day of Nigerian crude through Escravos terminal when it comes into full operation.
