Treating overweight-related conditions (diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea and others) is projected to cost G-20 nations on average 8.7% of their health budgets over the next three decades which is estimated by the United Nations to exceed $ 1.3 Trillion per year by this decade. Surgery works, it is the most effective approach to weight loss but it suffers from a low adoption rate due to safety issues, procedural complexity, and patient aversion.
