United Haitian Orthopaedic Philanthropists is a nonprofit healthcare organization based in Pocatello, Idaho founded in 2015. The founder, Dr. Stephen Hansen, is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who served a mission in Haiti for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1988-1990. Since then, he has returned to Haiti regularly to provide care and humanitarian aid. Our purpose is to help Haitian doctors provide better care for their patients. We do this by providing education, equipment, and supplies to Haitian doctors. Our first completed objective was to purchase and provide two completely functional arthroscopy towers to Hôpital du Canapé-Vert in Port-au-Prince in 2016 - the first ever in the country. Our current objective is to purchase and deliver functional C-arms for hospitals in Port-au-Prince, Cap-Haïtien, and Les Cayes, and to provide support to maintain and repair the C-arms. They will be the first fluoroscopy units in the country. Supplementary to our medical objectives, we also deliver first-aid kits, clothing, quilts, and other necessities to Haitian orphanages, church congregations, and other groups in need.
