Recycle-IT

www.recycle-it.org.uk

We collect unwanted computers and IT equipment primarily from the north west area and are able to collect nationwide, under environment legislation and licensing we look at reusing the equipment in both the developing countries (with assistance from computer aid international) and into our local community through growing local networks and organisations. Once collected the equipment is checked, inspected and any data present wiped to professionally high standard producing ether reusable computer equipment that we can make available at a realistically affordable price (£40 complete package internet ready etc…..) Or the equipment is broken down and separated, any usable parts salvaged and stock piled for later use within the workshop and for spare parts for the community to access when something’s broken and needs replacing in their equipment. We genuinely help bridge the digital divide and facilitate low cost pc packages to people and organisations that can’t afford high street prices We constantly look at what happens to the materials that are at the end of its life and actively encourage different usage other than reclaiming for the materials that we work with and produce, we are always looking for new and inspirational ways to treat the broken down materials we deal with (plastics, low grade iron, circuit boards, wires) and welcome and suggestions or collaborations to aid further reuse or upcycling. And as a part of the ethos of Recycle-IT it’s the understanding that we are a community based company (C.I.C) and we have regular meetings and involvement from community members and advisor's to help and include with the development and future of the organisation.
