SEARCH Group, Incorporated
www.search.orgSEARCH, The National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics, is a nonprofit membership organization with 50 years of experience supporting the high-tech crime investigative, information sharing, communications interoperability, information technology, and criminal records systems needs of justice and public safety practitioners at the state, local, regional, and tribal levels nationwide. Since 1969, SEARCH’s support of justice and public safety has been accomplished through our core capabilities in technical assistance; training, educational workshops, and conferences; development of methodologies, tools, and standards; policy assistance and research; participation in national initiatives; and online resources, including nationally published white papers, technical guides, and research reports. SEARCH is governed by its owners, a Membership Group comprised of one gubernatorial appointee from each state, the District of Columbia, and the territories, as well as eight at-large appointees selected by SEARCH’s Chair. Members are primarily senior-level state justice officials responsible for operational decisions and policy concerning the management of criminal justice information, particularly criminal history information. SEARCH also supports national IT initiatives to facilitate information sharing, such as rap sheet standards, Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative, National Information Exchange Model, and the FBI’s National Data Exchange Project (N-DEx).
