In 2018, The Small Business Party, a new independent political party representing the perspective of small business owners in New South Wales politics was formed. Angela Vithoulkas is running for Lord Mayor - City of Sydney, in the NSW Local Elections. The Small Business Party will contest the NSW Local Council seats: Parramatta & Hawkesbury on Sat December 4. For too long the major political parties have made decisions without considering the impact on small business owners, their employees and families right across Australia. The Small Business Party will give small business a voice as part of the parliamentary process. We will make sure that Government considers the impact of their decisions on small businesses BEFORE signing off on large infrastructure projects or implementing more rules, regulations and red tape. Nine out of ten Australian businesses are classified as small businesses, employing over 40% of the Australian workforce. Small business also contributes 33% to the country’s GDP, yet they are not represented by the major parties who are more concerned about keeping the interests of big business and their supporters satisfied. Things need to change to ensure that small business owners can build, employ more people and get on with running their businesses.
