ORTLOS space engineering

ORTLOS Space Engineering is a transdisciplinary design studio, which is developing innovative environments as a new channel for engaging with communities, reaching end-users, and building spatial experiences. The main design competence of ORTLOS translates 21 century technologies into spatial systems and strategies – packing the ideas and visions into architecture. With the strong commitment to working online, the studio has focused on expanding classical architectural tasks by simulating virtual environments to be applied to future realities and by using cutting-edge computer technologies. They use a holistic approach to create architecture of interconnected spatial settings. Ivan Redi and Andrea Redi have founded ORTLOS Space Engineering based in London and Graz, in 2000 as a network of interdisciplinary partners. In 2007 photographer Emil Gruber joined the partnership, and in 2009 philosopher Georg Flachbart. Their work has been published and exhibited worldwide, including at the Venice Biennale in 2000. They are currently teaching at Graz University of Technology, Bartlett University College London, and lecture around the world. In collaboration with graphic design legend David Carson, ORTLOS has published book “ORTLOS :: Architecture of the NetWORKS”, which illustrates works from 2000 to 2003, as well as more recent projects.
