Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy

Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy is a tuition-free, independent Jesuit school for low-income boys in grades 5-8 in Baltimore with a vision of breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Grounded in the Jesuit mission of social justice, the goal of the Academy program is to prepare our students for admission to competitive college-preparatory high schools, colleges, and universities, ultimately leading to fulfilling, productive and professional lives as engaged citizens of Baltimore and Maryland. Since 1993, 98% of Academy graduates have graduated from high school, almost double the rate for Baltimore City students. Additionally, 88% have immediately enrolled in post-secondary education. The Academy operates an extended school year (11-month) and an extended school day (7:30-5:00) which is critical to our success. 100% percent of students qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Meal program when they're accepted into the Academy. Academy students come from across all areas of Baltimore City, representing 23 different zip codes. While the Academy was founded and is sponsored by the Jesuits, only 8% of students are Catholic. Saint Ignatius Loyola Academy is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools and authorized by the Maryland State Department of Education. The Academy is a member of the NativityMiguel Network of Schools.
