The Maggie Oliver Foundation
www.themaggieoliverfoundation.comMaggie Oliver is best known as the Detective-turned- whistleblower who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in late 2012 in order to expose the now infamous Rochdale Grooming Scandal. Her ability to connect with people and encourage them to speak out against injustice paired with her grit and determination to expose the truth eventually led to her becoming Programme Consultant on the multi award-winning dramatisation of the case entitled Three Girls (BBC One) which brought some of the issues to public attention for the first time. Maggie was also a key contributor for The Betrayed Girls documentary (BBC One) Maggies relationship with the victims of child grooming continues to this day, still fighting for justice for survivors of sexual abuse. This has now led to The Maggie Oliver Foundation being set up with the focus on helping survivors to Transform Pain into Power Maggie has set her vision in motion by beginning to build an amazingly caring, supportive and understanding team. A team who all share the same values and a fierce determination to make a real difference in the lives of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Values such as kindness, empathy, honesty, fairness, trust, human decency, and justice are what drive us. In addition, by sharing our stories and experiences we also intend to expose and address injustice, misuse of power and corruption wherever we find it. Due to COVID 19 we had to close our pilot centre in Rochdale a few weeks after opening and this has forced us to evaluate this brave new world we are now in and make decisions about the future. We decided we had no choice but to put the centre on hold due to social distancing and the new regulations and focus instead on setting up our sexual abuse phone line called “Pain into Power”.
