The Institute for Microelectronics is a member of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the TU Wien. It was founded in 1988 to deal with the growing demand in the semiconductor industry for technology aided computer design (TCAD) software. Since then, the institute has been involved in world class research on all topics in micro- and nano-electronics including process and device modeling, quantum mechanical effects, and reliability issues.
