Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) enables music and artistic education opportunities for children and young people within the county. In Northamptonshire last year, NMPAT enabled over 20,000 children to engage in playing a musical instrument. NMPAT’s extensive programme enables many opportunities for young people and others to participate in regular workshop, rehearsal, tutoring and practice sessions. NMPAT is the lead partner for the Northamptonshire Music Education Hub and continues to deliver the promises of the Government’s National Plan for Music Education for “children from all backgrounds and every part of England to have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, to make music with others; to learn to sing; and to have the opportunity to progress to the next level of excellence.” - As well as contributing to Arts Council England’s goal that “every child and young person should have the opportunity to experience the richness of the arts”. NMPAT has been delivering for nearly 50 years, first as a Local Authority Music Service, originally known as Northampton Music School and, since 2012, as an independent charitable company. It has built a national reputation for the quality and consistency of its provision and alumni can be found in nearly every conservatoire and professional orchestra in the country.
