XENIA is the Greek concept of hospitality, generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home. It is often translated as “guest friendship” because the rituals of hospitality created and expressed are a reciprocal relationship between guest and host. XENIA is also a genus of marine coral – one of the fastest to reproduce – which helps tether the marine bed to itself, using its “hands” to push water away from the coral colony in a constant, grabbing motion. XENIA is also the direct effect on a hybrid plant produced by the transfer of pollen from one strain to the endosperm of a different strain.
