Chemgro was founded in 1967 by Woody Funk as a fertilizer company in Lancaster County, PA. Chemgro grew in the retail ag business with the addition of the Union Mill division in Belleville, PA in 1985. Chemgro began selling seed in 1976, and in 1986 the Chemgro brand was started with the introduction of 4 new Chemgro brand hybrids. In an industry where mergers and buyouts continue on what seems like a daily basis, Chemgro continues to operate as a local, regional, familyowned business. Chemgro is looking toward the future with the vision that Woody had for providing quality products for his customers, coupled with a high level of service.
