Our passion is fueled by the many beers across this planet that continue to inspire us. We focus on collaboration, creativity, and quality craftsmanship. We partner with the resilient farmers of Michigan who provide the grains and hops that ignite the signature character of our beers. During this unique time, we want to share the Mothfire spirit, from our cans to your home, and hopefully soon through art, music, and live events at our taproom. Our Story Noah Kaplan is an artist and entrepreneur who has always been obsessed with the international craft beer culture. Through the years he met other like-minded beer freaks who traveled and lived to hit every taproom possible and bring it back to share with friends. In 2016 two employees from his company Leon Speakers came to him with a dream to brew beer. Naturally Noah said yes and invested in a one-barrel brewing system which they set up in the back of the factory. It became a weekly ritual to brew and gather and drink and write recipes. He met Bruce Bell and David Becker—both home brewers—in 2017, and the fire was lit. In April 2019 an opportunity arose to purchase a small brewery in Ann Arbor called Pileated Brewery. They spent a year redesigning the system, dialing in water chemistry, upgrading equipment, and refining recipes. In May 2020 it was time to launch the new brand. Enter Mothfire.
