Binary Systems, Inc. was originally founded in 1977 in New Orleans, LA. and was briefly known as Electro-Fab. BSI developed embedded control and communication systems for the petrochemical industry. Many of these SCADA systems used early versions of digitized ADPCM voice to annunciate alarm messages over telephone networks. Later products included Analog to Digital long-haul transmission devices and VAIN, an embedded AIN-based softswitch.
