Igor Butman’s name is well known far beyond the Russian borders. A Berklee college alumnus, Bill Clinton’s favourite sax player, virtuoso jazz musician, leader of the hottest Igor Butman Big Band, owner of the best Moscow jazz club… And now a creator of his own jazz label called Butman Music! So, the saxman decided to run his own recording business and opened new jazz label Butman Music with his management team in the summer of 2009. In the very beginning he marked the main goals for label to achieve: propaganda of Russian jazz music overseas and its integration in the world musical landscape. And he applied all his efforts to make it possible! Since June 2009 Butman Music released 7 albums (including «The Shadow of Your Smile» by trumpeter Vadim Eilenkrig, «Moscow@3am» and “Eternal Triangle” by Igor Butman Big Band, «Jazz Passion» by drummer Oleg Butman, «Take Me With You» by trumpeter Alexander Berenson). Most part of the tracks recorded on these CDs are new original Russian jazz music: the first two albums celebrate the music of a reknowned composer Nick Levinovsky, musical material for the other two ones is written by the artists themselves). Despite the fact that the label exists for less than 2 years, line-ups of the records boast the names of Wynton Marsalis, Will Lee, Wayne Escoffery, David Garfield, Hiram Bullock, Cyrus Chestnut, Donald Edwards, Eddie Gomez, Lenny White, Randy Brecker and other famous musicians!
