Broomwood Hall Upper School

www.northwoodschools.com

Broomwood Hall Upper School is a preparatory school for girls aged 8-13 in South West London. Together with sibling schools, Broomwood Hall Lower School, Northcote Lodge and NorthWood Senior, it forms the Northwood Schools' family, offering an excellent education from 4-16. The Lower School has two buildings: the Vicarage in Ramsden Road SW12 for Reception and Year 1 and 50 Nightingale Lane for Years 2 and 3. Times change, but our philosophy has never wavered. We exist to provide a resolutely traditional, well-rounded English education, tailored to the needs of the modern world. In the increasingly automated world that our children will face in the years to come, the human skills and values they learn at Broomwood Hall will matter more than ever. Things like critical thinking, confidence, self-discipline, resilience, organisation, teamwork, creativity, a sense of duty and responsibility; good manners, courtesy and tolerance of others. Our motto, ‘To do your best to be your best’ exemplifies the ethos of our school. Above all, we believe that a supportive but focussed environment – without undue stress or ‘hothousing’ - is the best way to help children fulfil their potential, both inside and outside the classroom. Entrance is by random ballot in Reception and thereafter, by a combination of test scores/assessment. We offer an Academic Scholarship to girls at 7+ who would spend a year in the Lower School before moving on to the Upper School at age 8. This is worth 20% of fees. There is also a Northwood Schools Music Scholarship which offers the same terms. Boys leave us at 8 to move on to Northcote Lodge and girls to the Upper School. At the age of 11 or 13 girls leave us to go to their secondary schools. From 2020, this might include our new senior school, NorthWood Senior. Ou 2020 Leavers won 15 scholarships across all areas of the curriculum: Academic, Music, Sport, Drama.
