“We will NOT compromise our words for comfort. We will speak until WE are heard.” -- Queen City CLTive The Queen City CLTive is a collective of 5 eclectic spoken word artists. Our poetic style is a fusion of free verse and acoustic soul. We are based out of Charlotte, NC and as part of our name, we proudly pronounce collective by using the the city’s acronym “CLT” to show where we are from. This collective of poets are captivating because of the diversity of styles within the group. Our style ranges from comedy, gospel, hip-hop and soul and the list goes on. We are known for our gritty transparency and heart gripping performances. The following members of the Queen City CLTive are APoetNamedSuperman, Hydra, Valentina Escobar, Bella, and Lauren Chalaire. The Queen City CLTive was initially founded by Bella and Lauren Chalaire with the intent to do one small tour out of town with a group of our of poetic peers, but after our first show at the Museum Bar in Atlanta, Ga., we all knew that we had something special. Within six months we have performed at well-known venues such as the Apache Café (ATL), Upstage NoDa (CLT), Carver Theatre (BHAM ), the Howard Theatre (DC) and other cities. We enjoy working together as a movement to promote unity and have definitely brought an undeniable edge and soulfulness to the Charlotte spoken-word community. The Queen City CLTive's objective is to create a relatable experience for our audience using our poetic language to carefully demonstrate our humanness to bridge societal gaps. Our goal is to unite, enlighten, inspire, and provoke change in our community through our gift of poetry.
