Businesses in Ørland municipality is experiencing growth. In 2012 Norway's parliament decided to build Norway's main fighter jet base in Ørland. In the next few years several billion Norwegian crowns will be invested. This provides unique opportunities for the municipality. The construction of the base is well on its way, there are plans for development in the city of Brekstad and many new homes in urban and rural areas are under construction. Ørland Cultural Center, with it's beautiful slate siding, is an attraction in itself. It houses a library, cultural school, movie theater, galleries, and a wetlands center. Communications to and from Ørland are convenient. One hour plane ride to Oslo. One hour boat ride to Trondheim.
