The People Speak
www.thepeoplespeak.org.ukThe People Speak is a group of international artists, academics and arts practitioners based in Tower Hamlets, East London. For 20 years we’ve produced participatory projects and creative interventions in the UK and abroad. We get people to understand each other and imaginatively solve problems together locally and globally. We deliver participatory projects and creative community interventions in the UK and internationally, which inform decision making in the public and cultural sphere, and helps organisations to strengthen engagement with their communities. We collaborated with most national cultural institutions and museums, all Tate Galleries, National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Ipswich Museum, most UK festivals, many social and youth charities, health trusts and most London boroughs. We use performance art, multi-media and technology to stimulate discussion, ideas, and actions in interactive and fun environments. Our formats include The Slice Is Right - a pizza making under various political conditions, Segue - instant film-making factory, Who Wants To Be…? - direct democracy game show, One Night Grandstand - stadium in a suitcase and the flagship pop-up talk show Talkaoke. Talkaoke is a live, television-style talk show popping out at festivals, clubs, galleries, conferences and on the street and online too! The format is simple: the host sits in the middle of an illuminated round table, and you sit around the outside and talk about whatever comes up.
